Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette Review

Okay guys, so I am not one on versatile products, but whenever I first heard about the Kat Von D Alchemist Palette I absolutely HAD to give it a shot. So I purchased it the very day it came out and here’s what I have to say about it. We also collaborated with our friend Alexis on this post and she sent us some awesome pictures of her using the palette!

You will temporarily feel like a holographic mermaid.
I am not obsessed with holographic products, nor am I obsessed with mermaids but when I first put this palette on my face I could not stop. I started with my eyes and before I knew it it was on my cheeks, my nose, my lips and all over my arm from swatching. So be careful, it’s addicting and gives you the urge to rub your entire face in it.

It’s gorgeous, but lighting is key with this one.
It’s so pretty and the colors are fantastic for real life events, however, it’s a tricky palette to use for photographs, both on your face and the palette itself. If you get too much light or not enough all of the colors look kind of like a sparkly white.

Before I tried it on I was disappointed.
Being completely honest, I was a little disappointed when I first opened the palette, before I tried it on. Only because all I’d seen was one professionally taken photo provided by Kat Von D since it had just come out that day and no one had it yet. The photos made the palette itself look bright, colorful, and big. Here’s the professional Kat Von D photo next to a photo in normal indoor lighting with no filters:

So basically, don’t expect the palette to always look holographic in all lighting, including after you put it on. It’s not exactly like it shows in the photos it appears more white. It’s still amazing but just know exactly what you’re getting before you buy it.

It’s really truly not just eyeshadow.
So I’ve had so many “versatile” products that claim they work as multiple things, but really only works well as one thing if that. This is an actual versatile product that works. It can literally look cute wherever you put it on your face. Cheek highlighter, Nose highlighter, eyeshadow, it even makes your lips look holographic. It’s great.

You can use it everyday or you can use it only when you’re dressing up.
You can use this product to become a full on holographic princess, or you can just highlight your cheekbones with it and it looks great both ways.

The colors are very unique and there’s no palette quite like it.
The fact that it’s holographic is already amazing, but the colors are just plain unique. They stand out and are really just perfect for any occasion whether it’s a rave or just a casual day.

Valentine Palette Review

Hello loves! You guys are going to want to read this review, because we think this low-key palette could go a LONG way.

So after seeing a cute little Facebook ad for a waterproof eyeshadow palette, I decided to order it and I am so happy that I did.

The top things I’m loving about this palette:

1.This palette’s pigment is no joke, a little bit goes a long way. There’s a lot of color payoff on the brush and it’s great because I can already tell it’s going to take me forever to hit pan.
2.There isn’t a lot of fallout, even though it has good pigment and offers some bright shades.
3.It has the perfect matte to shimmer ratio. I like that all the mattes have a good shimmer shade to go with it.
4.It stay’s on great, and I touch my eyes a lot so I really put it to the test. The only thing getting this eyeshadow off is makeup remover.
5.And the best part, this company doesn’t test on animals and are 100% vegan. They even boldly have an entire, easy to find, page on their website showing a short list of their ingredients.

I have a lot of respect for brands who come into the industry in such a beauty crazy time, competing with the big brands. Especially since they do not test on animals and can offer such a great product.

Also, this company is so nice whenever we told them about our blog they gave us a coupon code to offer to you guys. So use our code lashes17 to get 10% off your own palette.

KL Polish Review

Kathleen Lights is my favorite beauty guru in the industry right now. When she came out with her own nail polish line last Winter, I had been dying to try it ever since. I had only heard amazing things about the polishes in her line, so I finally ordered all of my favorite shades to try out. Heres my review:

The claims made by KL Polish for what these nail polishes are supposed to do are: “All KL Polish nail polishes are cruelty free, 5-free, and made in the USA using a high-quality, long-lasting, non-chip formula.”

The first shade I tried was Coconut Milk, a creamy off white perfect for everyday neutral wear. Saying I LOVE this shade is an understatement. Everybody needs this shade in their collection.

As for the wear, with two coats of Coconut Milk and a Sally Hansen top coat, it lasted at least twice as long as other nail polish brands on me, and I am HARD on my nails. This polish lasted about a week on my nails with minimal chipping, and after the one week mark it did start chipping off. Most polishes such as OPI or Sally Hansen usually start chipping after day two.

Some of the other shades I picked up are:

1.Hug and Roll: a light lavender perfect for spring and summer.
2.Porter Miami: a vivd cobalt blue that really made my nails POP during summertime!
3.Snickerdoodle: a subtle nude polish that looks good on everyone and is perfect for natural everyday wear.
4.Brick Sidewalk: a deep, rusty red shade that I can’t wait to put on in anticipation for fall!
5.St. Clair: a light periwinkle that is subtle but still has a little pop to it. I loved this shade transitioning from spring to summer!

KL Polish definitely impressed me and made me love nail polish again after a long time of being disappointed by polishes chipping fast and not staying pretty for long. I would DEFINITELY recommend this brand to anyone looking for polish. Kathleen comes out with a new set of 6 shades for every season and never disappoints. (She just released her fall 2017 line and I am dying to have it, check it out here)

One last thing, the price point, these polishes go for $8.50 a piece and are discounted if bought in a set. In my opinion, the higher price point for better polish is 100% worth it to me. I will be buying more in the future!

Boxycharm September 2019 Unboxing

Boxycharm is a monthly subscription service that sends you 4 to 5 (6 this month) full size beauty products every month for $21! I have had subscription boxes before, but this is by far my favorite. The box usually totals over $150 and the products rarely ever disappoint. Here’s what we got in September’s box:

Pur Cosmetics Soiree Diaries Eyeshadow Palette, Retail $34.00

This neutral palette is already worth more than the whole box itself, and after trying it out a few times, is more than worth the money! It includes eight silky smooth neutral matte shadows, and four beautiful shimmers. I will definitely be taking this palette with me anywhere I go, it is perfect for every day makeup!

MAC Cosmetics Eyebrow Pencil, Retail $18.00

First of all, the fact that MAC is in a Boxycharm is amazing in itself. Boxycharmers got one of two shades in this eyebrow pencil, Lingering or Spiked. I received Spiked and while it is a litttttle too dark for my hair color, it is a really nice eyebrow pencil and retails for almost what we paid for the whole box!

Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Little Stitious, Retail $6.00

I LOVE COLOURPOP ULTRA SATIN LIPS, anytime I can get them in a box like this, is a win for me. Little Stitious is a cool tone pink-y purple lipstick thats perfect for fall.

Studio Makeup Loose Blush, Retail $35.00

I have never in my life owned nor tried a loose blush, didn’t even know it was a thing. But this peach toned light pink blush is beautiful and one of my favorite things in the box.

Bare Minerals Face Perfecting Brush, Retail $28.00

Who doesn’t love a new foundation brush?

This month we got one more product than usual and it is amazing..
Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair Deep Conditioning Mask, Retail, $20.00

I have gotten Briogeo hair products in past subscription boxes and it has quickly become one of my favorite hair care lines. All of the products are 98% natural and smell amazing. This mask is no different, You leave it on your hair for 10 minutes and it leaves it so silky smooth and smelling so good, I will definitely be purchasing this product when I use this one up.

September Favorites

September is one of those months that flies by so fast you barely even remember what you did for the month, or at least that’s how it was for me. But as the saying “some things never change” goes, I still bought makeup during this busy month. There were some hits and misses, but here are some of my absolute favs.

  • Lancome’s Monsieur Big Volume Mascara

I have to say when this mascara launched I was loving the claims for it. The box itself says this mascara will give you 12X more volume, AND is an all day wear. The two things I look for in a mascara, so I decided to give this $25 beauty a try and it delivers. Whenever I wear this mascara, I am almost satisfied to the point of how I feel when wearing falsies. It’s a wonderful feeling without having to put on lashes (not that I don’t love my lashes, see number 4 .)

We’re also loving the hot pink packaging on this mascara, and all the branding they are doing with this new item. Like this mirror we got to try, thanks to Lancome. The brand also launched a Monsieur Big Eye Liner Marker and a Monsieur Big Brow in five different shades.

I love to pair this one with my Lancome Cil’s Booster XL Mascara Primer. I wear this primer everyday and it is my holy grail of mascara primer. Trust me on this one.

I LOVE the mascara so much, that whenever I wear any other mascara, I find myself wishing I was wearing this one so it is definitely my number 1 favorite for September.

  • Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector

This poured highlighter is amazing, and really does perfect my skin whenever I put it on. The glow is sophisticated and doesn’t look too glittery. Some highlighters I try almost look like I just smeared glitter on my face, which ends up getting everywhere and creating a sloppy look.

This gorgeous creamy highlighter comes in 7 different shades. Pearl, a shimmering white. Moonstone, a light peach glow. Prosecco Pop, a golden glow. Opal (pictured below), a beautiful mixture of a rosey and a golden glow. Champagne Pop, a very light almost rosy glow. Rose Gold, the name describes itself, a beautiful rosey golden glow. And Topaz, a deeper bronze glow.

  • Burberry Brit Rhythm for Her Eau de Toilette
Although this is a fragrance and not makeup, it had to go on my September list. This floral fragrance is a unique scent and I’ve really been loving it. It’s also a great new product that you should go try and see if you love it too.
  • Ardell’s Natural Lashes

So I had heard Ardell lashes are good, but they are officially my go-to. With a great price point of around $3-$4, and great selection to choose from these lashes are no joke. They have lashes ranging from everyday wear to Halloween. I personally am loving the natural ones, but the glamour ones are great too.

  • Clinique’s Pop Matte Lip Color + Primer

These lipsticks are the creamiest matte lips I’ve ever tried. They don’t dry my lips out even a little bit and I am loving the color choices. They give me an all day wear without drying my lips out, and I’m a huge fan.

There are several colors to choose from but I own the ones pictured.

Blushing Pop, my perfect nude matte lip. Beach Pop, a darker nude plum (amazing for fall). Cute Pop, my new summer go to a perfect pinky plum shade. Icon Pop, a deep red, another great fall shade and also great for the holidays coming up. The last shade isn’t a matte but I love it so much I put it in the picture, its called Bare Pop and is an awesome basic nude/pink lip.

That’s all I have for September, I hope this inspires you to try some of these products!

Fall Favorites

I know I’m not the only person that is ecstatic my favorite season is finally here. Boots, scarves, dark makeup, and fall candles… what is there not to love about fall?

I put together a list of some of my favorite things this season!

Milani Amore Matte Lip Cream in Adorable: This is my perfect fall shade! It is a mauve-y nude and dries down completely matte and stays all day! Catch this on my lips all season!

Colourpop x iLuvSarahii Ultra Satin Lip in 951: I LOVE Colourpop’s Ultra Satin Lips, hands down. This is my perfect nude brown shade for the fall. That’s all I have to say.

KL Polish – Chloe: One of my favorite things of the season, FALL NAILS. KL Polish just dropped their fall line and I am dying for this army green!

Yankee Candle in the Scent – Autumn Spiced Pumpkin: I don’t know about you, but I don’t feel like it’s fall until my house looks and smells like it. This candle did the trick and its definitely one of my fall essentials this year!

Bath & Body Works Lotion in Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin & Bath & Body Works Fine Fragrance Mist in October Leaves & Blue Sky – Why not smell like fall too? I have been loving this lotion and the body spray too!

Naked Heat Eyeshadow Palette – This palette is so warm toned and perfect for my go-to fall look! It is full of oranges and purples and reds, and I’ve been reaching for it almost every day since the weather got cooler!

What are your fall essentials?

5 Products I Can’t Live Without

We all have our holy grail product, right? I know I do. Picking five was kind of tough but here are the products I will keep repurchasing every time I run out because they are THAT good…

Maybelline Fit Me Matte+Poreless Foundation
I have been using this foundation for YEARS and it had never failed me once. It keeps my face matte and oil-free all day, its long wearing, and it erases my pores. And for $6? It’s a yes from me.

OFRA Highlighter in Rodeo Drive
I got this highlighter in a Boxycharm a few months back and I use it almost every day. It’s such a pretty highlight that can be subtle, or built up to be blinding. It stays in place all day and just gives me a beautiful glow.

Lancome CILS Booster
I have spoiled myself with this product and now can’t apply mascara without it. It’s infused with vitamins for longer lashes and gives me a good base for mascara, leaving me flake-free all day. Couldn’t live without it.

Beauty Blender
I can’t apply foundation or concealer without my beloved beauty blender. It is a staple in my makeup routine and I honestly don’t know what I’d do without it. I know, I know, it’s $20 for a sponge. My favorite dupes are the Ulta Beauty Sponge or the Real Techniques Sponge.

You can find this super cute holder on amazon for $7!

Jaclyn Hill Palette
When they said this is the perfect palette, they weren’t kidding. It has such a variety of shades and combos and most of the time I reach for this palette. From warms to cools to colors to neutrals, the palette has it all and has become a holy grail of mine.

What are some of your holy grail, couldn’t-live-without products?

Boxycharm October 2019

Hey everyone! So just like every month, I was super excited to receive my Boxycharm this month and once again I wasn’t disappointed! They just keep killing’ it over at boxycharm, and for $21 I’m still shook every month with the products we get.

Boxycharm is a monthly subscription service that sends you 4 to 5 full size beauty products every month for $21! The box value usually totals over $150 and the products rarely ever disappoint. So lets go over what I got in my box this month…

  1. Dr. Brandt PoreDermabrasion ($25 at Walmart)
This stuff is pretty great. I’ve only used it once so far but I will definitely be adding this to my skin care routine by using it 1-2 times a week. It has a great fresh peppermint smell and I really love the added exfoliation it gives my skin. It also doesn’t break me out and with how sensitive my skin is, that’s a wonderful and rare thing when using a new product.

A Facebook post was made where people were claiming that the products we received in the box were less full than normal. I was happy to see that Boxycharm contacted Dr. Brandt and they proved this theory wrong by comparing one you buy in the store to the ones in Boxycharm and weighing them, and the two had the same amount of product. The product feels almost not full when you receive it but they explained thats

just the settling of the product and its nothing to worry about. The product was sealed and once I used it I realized there is the correct amount of product in the bottle.

  1. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid ($41 at Sephora)
I just wrote about this in the cream version in my September favorites post, and I just happened to get the same thing in liquid in my box! It’s an awesome highlighter, and the size of the bottle is much bigger than I thought. I really love this line of highlighters, although I’m not going to be using it as a daily highlighter because I prefer the ease of powder highlighters on a daily basis. The shade is Prosecco Pop and it is described as a warm gold color.
  2. Tarteist Lip Paint ($20 at Sephora)
Okay so honest moment, I don’t like this. At all. I’ve had this line of liquid lipsticks before and loved it, this color is just WAY too light for me. I also have this lipstick in “birthday suit” in the old formula and I love that, but I can’t say I love the new formula and this definitely isn’t the shade for me. The shade is “Pillow Talk” and it’s a light light almost white baby pink.
  3. DLS Gold Plated Eye Shadow Crayon ($14 on DLS website)
I had never heard of Dirty Little Secret cosmetics until this months Boxycharm, but I like this eye shadow crayon. I’m not crazy about it, because I’m not really crazy about any eye shadow crayon. Eyeshadow is another thing I prefer in the form of powder. The color is a coper gold shimmer color, and the consistency of this crayon is creamy and very easy to apply.
  4. Jonteblu Lip Liner Pencil ($5 on Jonteblu website)
I got this liner in the shade Spice, and it’s a great everyday nude color that I’ve worn every day since I got this months box. It’s the kind of lip pencil you have to sharpen, but I’ve haven’t had to sharpen it yet so its low maintenance and easy to apply.

Overall, I think this was a good month for boxy charm. Although I will probably never use the lip paint, I still definitely got my money’s worth for this box with everything else. If you think Boxycharm is something you would like to try you can go sign up here!

What did you get in this month’s Boxycharm?
